Winnie | A Vessel Fit for a Princess

What do you plant a princess in? The answer is a dark little pottery bowl.
Winnie already has plenty going for her with those bright white and green leaves. She is definitely a statement piece all on her own - which is why this simple little pottery bowl is such a good match.
I loved how simple this bowl was - dark pottery, low and wide, with the unfinished base underneath. It was subtle, earthy and understated. It was perfect for The Second Season. Pottery is a skill I wish I had - not for lack of trying in all of those college courses - so when I see a beautiful piece of pottery, I am immediately drawn to it and the work that went into creating it. - Seriously, if someone is teaching pottery, I'd love more lessons!
The White Princess was one of the plants I was overly excited to add to my own collection, so once she had grown enough to clip and propagate, that is exactly what I did!
You apparently can't rush a princess. Winnie took her sweet time growing roots, while I not-so-patiently waited for her to be ready for this perfect little pottery piece I found thrifting.
Winnie seems to love her new home - she is thriving and already growing new leaves!
And every princess deserves the royal treatment...
Caring for Winnie
Winnie will be happiest in bright, indirect light. Her white variegation means she needs plenty of light to keep those beautiful leaves coming, but direct afternoon sun can be a little too much for her.
Let the top inch or two of soil dry out between waterings. Since her pottery bowl doesn't have drainage, smaller drinks are best - make sure the soil has had a chance to dry before giving her more.
White Princess Philodendrons like a little warmth and humidity, but normal household conditions should keep Winnie happy too, If she's really happy, keep an eye out for new leaves - you never know how much white the next one will bring.
