Edith | Let Me Spill the Tea...

2 min read

This little beauty started from a small cutting of a Mezoo plant that has spent the summer growing outside on my balcony. I took several cuttings to propagate, tucked them into jars of water and waited for them to root. Eventually, they rooted... and this one became Edith. Say hello!

I found the sweetest little old-fashioned teacup - you guessed it - browsing thrift shops on W 7th in St Paul. I think we are seeing a pattern here, but I keep finding so many adorable treasures to bring home! This teacup is a creamy white with worn brown and bronzy-gold leafy details. I thought it made a beautiful addition to The Second Season collection and couldn't wait to plant something in it.

Edith is small, but she will grow into a beautiful trailing plant... AND sometimes, with the right lighting, Mezoo plants can blossom the cutest little flowers. Edith hasn't blossomed... yet... but give her time and see what she is capable of!

Edith felt like the proper name for this plant in her little teacup. Can you envision an old-fashioned lady sipping tea with her girlfriends and spilling the latest gossip? She seemed like an old-fashioned lady to me.. willing to spill it all. She sits upright now... but let her get comfortable with plenty of light and a little bit of water, and she will spill over the sides of this teacup.

Want to join Edith's social circle? Here's what it takes to keep this little lady happy...

Caring for Edith

Edith loves bright light and a sunny window. Plenty of light will help her grow full and trailing - and may encourage those little flowers to make an appearance.

Let the soil dry between waterings. Edith's leaves hold onto water and since her teacup doesn't have drainage, smaller drinks are better.

Mezoo is naturally a trailing plant, so as Edith grows, she will begin to spill over the sides of her teacup - and really be In her element.
